(Reno, NV) — An extreme blizzard warning remains in effect in the mountains between California and Nevada. Forecasters in Reno say a 300-mile stretch of the Sierra Nevada is expecting heavy snow to taper off this morning, with up to eight feet of snow accumulating in parts of the Tahoe Basin. The National Weather Service is predicting 70-mile-an-hour wind gusts in the region, creating massive snow drifts and raising the risk of avalanche danger on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada through tonight.
