(Reno, NV) — The Truckee Meadows Water Authority is directing all customers to stop outdoor watering until further notice. The Truckee River is seeing ongoing high turbidity levels, which could increase because of a mudslide near the California-Nevada state line. The TMWA is closing some river intakes to protect the region’s water treatment plants from excessive sediment and debris. That will significantly reduce treatment capacity and make the region’s water supply scarce. Officials will be heavily relying on groundwater wells in the meantime.
