(Reno, NV) — Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam is running for reelection. Balaam, who was first elected in 2018, announced his reelection bid on Wednesday. He is touting his record on crime prevention, technological innovation and community outreach. Balaam is also highlighting his efforts to combat fentanyl and opioid abuse, the deployment of emergency response technology, and the creation of specialized teams to address human trafficking and protect victims. The sheriff says, if reelected, he will increase the use of drones, Automated License Plate Readers and artificial intelligence tools to improve crime response.
