(Truckee, CA) — The Truckee Police Department is issuing a warning about imposter scams. There has been a rise in the scams as of late. They involve suspects lying to victims and pretending to be someone else in order to take their money, access their banking information, or access their personal information. Police say scammers are trying to convince victims to send money through wire transfer, gift cards, or by cryptocurrency transactions. Truckee police say no legitimate government entity or private business would ever unexpectedly demand money over the phone or online using these methods of transaction.
