(Reno, NV) — Reno’s sustainability efforts have saved three-point-four-million dollars. Last year, the city’s solar facilities generated one-point-six-million kilowatt hours of clean energy. The city says, in the past decade, its energy efficiency and renewable energy projects have led to a 37 percent reduction in energy use in municipal buildings. That translates to a cost savings of three-point-four-million dollars. One city-owned building saw close to 700 outdated light bulbs removed and replaced with 50 high-bay LED overhead lights. The cost of the project was paid back in electricity bill savings within 13 months.
