Reno, Nevada (September 22, 2025) — As a result of a gang-related double homicide in south Reno on September 7, 2025, the Regional Gang Unit conducted targeted enforcement to ensure public safety and prevent retaliatory incidents.

Of note, on September 19, 2025, the Regional Gang Unit (RGU) conducted an operation in the 800 block of West 2nd St. The operation resulted in the arrest of four documented gang members for various felony and misdemeanor crimes and seized a firearm.
Those arrested on September 19th include:
- 19-year-old Daniel Aguilar — Two counts of felony Eluding, Child Abuse/Neglect, allow Child Abuse/Neglect, two counts of reckless driving, No Driver’s License, and Obstructing or Resisting an Officer.
- 24-year-old Kevin Cortes — Failure to Comply Warrant
- 16-year-old male — Parole Violation, and Driving w/o Driver’s License
- 15-year-old male — Carry Concealed Weapon, Obstruct and Resist Police Officer with Deadly Weapon, and Minor in Possession of a Firearm.
The Regional Gang Unit is a joint effort comprised of officers and detectives from the following agencies: Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Washoe County School Police, DPS Parole and Probation, and Washoe County Department of Juvenile Probation and Parole. This was a multiagency collaboration, and the results reflect the collective effort of all agencies involved.
