(Reno, NV) — At Wednesday’s meeting, Reno City Council unanimously approved an ordinance allowing Accessory Dwelling Units, or ADUs, across the city. These units can create affordable rental options to familes with low or middle incomes. It can also allow young adults to move close to home.
While the ordinance was adopted, many council members, including Naomi Duerr, want regulations moving forward so people cannot abuse the power to rent out properties.
Council also heard the results from the 2025 Community Survey, which saw more than 3,000 responses. Strategic Initiatives Manager Carissa Bradley-Cusack highlights the areas garnering positive feedback.
Some negative areas include travel options and the downtown area.
