(Reno, NV) — A special court for homeless people in Reno is shutting down. The so-called Community Court was set up in 2019 by the City of Reno Municipal Court. Sessions were held every Wednesday at the Downtown Reno Public Library. It allowed homeless people to deal with low-level criminal charges while also getting resources. However, the judge who supervises the program says it’s not having enough success to justify its operating expenses.
