(South Lake Tahoe, CA) — The mayor of South Lake Tahoe has resigned 10 days after she announced that she stole money from a church and attempted suicide. Earlier this month, Tamara Wallace wrote a letter to the Tahoe Daily Tribune where the mayor said she was in a mental health facility coming to terms with her problems. The South Lake Tahoe Presbyterian Church now tells the San Francisco Chronicle the church is missing 300-thousand dollars from the time Wallace was their bookkeeper. The El Dorado County District Attorney is investigating. Meanwhile, South Lake Tahoe City Council will meet next Tuesday to discuss her vacancy.
