Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors knocked off Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers 119-109 on NBA Opening Night from Crypto-Dot-Com Arena. Curry finished the season-opening victory with 23 points and four assists. Jimmy Butler the Third paced Golden State with a team-high 31 points, while Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga scored 17 apiece. The Warriors have won four of their last five season openers. Doncic led LA with a game-high 43 points to go along with 12 rebounds and nine assists. Austin Reaves had 26 points as the Lakers dropped to 0-and-1.

The Nevada Men’s basketball team has announced single game tickets are now on sale. Nevada opens home play for the 2025-2026 season on Saturday with an exhibition game against Eastern Washington at 1:00 p.m. The regular season opens on Nov. 4 at home against Louisiana Tech. A dozen former football coaches are one step closer to Canton. 12 coaches have advanced to the next round of voting for the 2026 class for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The class is highlighted by six-time Super Bowl champ Bill Belichick, who is in his first year of eligibility. Tom Coughlin, Mike Shanahan, George Seifert, Mike Holmgren, Bill Arnsparger, Alex Gibbs, Chuck Knox, Buddy Parker, Dan Reeves, Marty Schottenheimer and Clark Shaughnessy are also in the running.

The Islanders extended their winning streak after harpooning the Sharks 4-3 from Elmont. Bo Horvat, Casey Cizikas and Emil Heineman all scored first-period goals. Ilya Sorokin made 33 saves as New York has won three in-a-row. Macklin Celebrini netted a late goal for San Jose, which is still winless on the season through six games.
