(Carson City, NV) — Starting with the next school year in Nevada, parents will be able to have their children attend the public school of their choice, regardless of their zip code, if seats are available. The law is the result of legislation passed in the last session. It sets up statewide open enrollment. It allows families to apply to any public school with available seats, regardless of where they live. Families can apply now but under the law, a spot in the school of choice is not a guarantee. A lottery will be held for open seats if needed.
