(Reno, NV) – The University of Nevada, Reno is one of 18 schools under scrutiny by the Department of Education for alleged Title IX infractions. The complaints claim that the named universities discriminated on the basis of sex by permitting students to participate in athletics based on their gender identity, rather than biological sex. Officials at UNR say they haven’t received correspondence from the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, but they will respond appropriately should they hear from them. They add the university remains committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and respectful campus environment, and that they will uphold responsibilities under state and federal law, as well as those outlined in the U.S. Constitution.
