(Soda Springs, CA) — A fire at a famous Sierra ski resort was put out with the help of snowcats and fast-thinking firefighters. Flames broke out at the mid-mountain lodge at Sugar Bowl last night. Because the lodge is typically reached by a chair lift, firefighters had to get up the mountain on snowcats. Crews from the Truckee Fire Protection District responded just after 5 p.m. The flames were knocked down by 6:40. It’s not clear what started the fire or how much damage was done to the lodge.
