(Reno, NV) — Nevada U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen is calling for the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Rosen, a moderate Democrat, says Noem “misled the American public.” That’s a reference to the way Noem explained the fatal shooting of a nurse in Minnesota by a Border Patrol agent. Noem insists the 37-year-old was determined to “kill law enforcement.” However, videos of Saturday’s shooting appear to show Alex Pretti backing away from officers. Minnesota officials say he was legally carrying a gun. Videos seem to show officers disarming Pretti just before they shoot him. Senator Rosen’s call for an impeachment is not likely to go far in the GOP-controlled Senate. But, it’s significant because Rosen recently voted with Senate Republicans to reopen the government. It’s possible Rosen and other moderates will vote against DHS funding this week and shut down the government.
