(Reno, NV) — Washoe County school leaders are cutting 39 positions, hoping it will help ease financial burdens. The motion to slash positions was approved during Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting. Officials say 19 of the affected positions were vacant and any employees that were impacted have been notified. The district says they are facing the combined impact of declining enrollment, limited growth in state per pupil funding and rising operational costs.
