(Incline Village, NV) — Members of Congress from both parties are supporting legislation that’s designed to protect Lake Tahoe while expanding tribal lands. 45 years ago, a law was passed that sold land in Southern Nevada to fund the purchase and protection of land around Lake Tahoe. That was done to preserve the health and clarity of the lake, but it left out a mechanism to maintain those lands. The new bill would allow California to manage the lands while the Washoe Tribe of Nevada would be allowed to expand. The bill is getting bipartisan support in Congress from members of both houses who represent Nevada and California.
