(Winnemucca, NV) – The Humboldt County School District has voted to close Winnemucca Grammar School for the remainder of the year. The district voted to relocate students to Grass Valley Elementary School starting Feb. 17. Students are being moved over concerns with the school’s structural integrity. A seismic evaluation report conducted in December showed numerous issues, such as unreinforced masonry, lack of secondary supports, minor cracking, and water damage. Winnemucca Grammar School and Grass Valley will not be consolidating K-4 students, rather both schools will be sharing the Grass Valley campus while continuing to operate as separate schools, with different students, staff and instructional programs.
