(Nevada County, CA) – A court has ordered a competency evaluation for the man accused of running his truck into a Truckee Safeway. Johnathan Maurer appeared in court on Tuesday, and is facing eight counts of attempted murder, multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon and several sentencing enhancements, including for great bodily injury. During his hearing, the court declared doubt as to Maurer’s competency and suspended criminal proceedings. Maurer remains in custody.
