(Reno, NV) — Snow is returning to Lake Tahoe this week. A low pressure system has already pushed in from the Pacific and it’s heading our way. The National Weather Service is issuing a Winter Weather Advisory. Forecasters expect to see heavy snow above seven-thousand feet. A couple feet of snow could fall at the highest elevations. The heaviest snow will fall on Tuesday and Wednesday. Reno is likely to see rain today and on Tuesday and Wednesday.
CHP troopers in Truckee remind you that chains are essential when navigating inclement weather. On Facebook, troopers say chains are required on all vehicles except passenger cars. Chains should also be carried by cars using snow tires and vehicles with towing trailers must have chains on one drive axle. The reminder comes as Donner Summit could see up to a foot of snow through Wednesday.
