(South Lake Tahoe, CA) — Following the sudden resignation of South Lake Tahoe Mayor Tamara Wallace, city council on Tuesday appointed Mayor Pro Tem Cody Bass to fill the role on an interim basis. His tenure runs through December 9th.
Residents were mixed on Bass taking over for Wallace. Some saying his prior run-ins with the law should omit him from holding the city’s highest position, while others say his experience mediating serious issues made him a plausible candidate. Those in opposition even called for Bass’ resignation, pointing to his alleged ownership of a “weed wellness center” and an incident at a bar near Stateline last month.
Bass led Tuesday’s meeting and he detailed what the next few weeks will look like.
Wallace resigned last month after admitting to embezzling money from a local church she worked for.
