Nevada could not overcome five turnovers Friday night against Boise State, which got rushing touchdowns from Maddux Madsen, Sire Gaines and Dylan Riley to beat the Wolf Pack, 24-3. Carter Jones totaled 146 yards on 16-for-29 passing with three interceptions for the Wolf Pack. Herschel Turner ran for 77 yards on seven carries. Boise State held Nevada to 247 yards of offense while racking up 308 in its third straight victory.

From Nevada Athletics: The Nevada men’s basketball team capped off its preseason with a strong showing at Lawlor Events Center, defeating Eastern Washington 73-52 in its final exhibition game before opening the regular season on November 4 against Louisiana Tech.
The Wolf Pack displayed balanced scoring and defensive energy throughout, outscoring the Eagles 36-16 in the paint, turning 21 Eastern Washington turnovers into 31 points, and holding the visitors to just 40 percent shooting from the field.
Junior guard Vaughn Weems led the Pack off the bench, scoring 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting while adding two assists, two steals, and a block. Elijah Price was a force inside once again, posting 10 points and six rebounds, including several key second-chance buckets. Chuck Bailey III contributed 11 points, hitting two three-pointers and going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Nevada jumped out to an early double-digit lead in the first half behind strong bench play, taking a 35-20 advantage into halftime. The Pack continued their momentum in the second half, extending their lead to as many as 24 with efficient scoring in transition and improved defensive rotations.

C.J. Stroud threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns as the Texans topped the 49ers 26-15 in Houston. Xavier Hutchinson had five catches for 69 yards and a score for the Texans, who have won three of four after starting the season 0-and-3. Mac Jones finished 19-of-32 for 193 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for the Niners, who slipped to 5-and-3. Christian McCaffrey had just 25 rushing yards on eight attempts in the setback.
NHL
The San Jose Sharks came through in the clutch during a 6-5 overtime win against the Minnesota Wild at Grand Casino Arena. Macklin Celebrini scored the game-winning goal in the fourth minute of the extra period. William Eklund scored twice in the victory, while Michael Misa, Ryan Reaves, and Tyler Toffoli also lit the lamp. The Sharks have won two of three. Marcus Johansson, Marco Rossi, Ryan Hartman, Zeev Buium, and Joel Eriksson Ek all scored for Minnesota. The Wild are on a three-game losing streak.
MLB
The World Series is shifting to Los Angeles all tied up at one game apiece. The Dodgers will host the Blue Jays in Game Three of the Fall Classic on Monday at Chavez Ravine. The teams split the first two games in Toronto with the Dodgers earning a 5-1 victory in Game Two on Saturday to tie the best-of-seven series. Yoshinobu Yamamoto tossed his second consecutive complete game while Will Smith homered and drove in three runs to lead LA. Veteran Max Scherzer will be on the bump in Game Three for the Blue Jays, while the Dodgers counter with fellow right-hander Tyler Glasnow.
