(Boulder City, NV) — Even before most holiday lights were set up, much of Nevada got a different kind of show on Tuesday night. The Aurora Borealis was in clear view in the northern part of the state and as far south as Boulder City. The so-called Northern Lights filled the sky with bright colors. It’s a common sight in far-northern locations like Alaska and Scandinavia, but it’s much more rare in Nevada. Tuesday night’s event happened because of high levels of activity on the Sun that disturbed the Earth’s magnetic field.
