(Burney, CA) — Guilty pleas entered for Roger Neil Schmidt, the man charged in connection with a 40-year-old cold case in northern California. On December 14, 1984, Schmidt fatally shot Terry Arndt and sexually assaulted a woman in Burney, both of whom were 18. Schmidt was deemed the suspect following new DNA methods and forensic genealogy. Schmidt waived appeal rights and could face life without parole when sentenced.
