(Carson City, NV) — The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is now using drones as first responders. They call it the “Drone As First Responder” or DFR. They can launch from a deputy’s vehicle and operate in harsh weather. The drones have already responded to half-a-dozen calls this week. They can use thermal sensors to find missing hikers and they have lights to illuminate the ground when police or firefighters are entering the scene.
