(Reno, NV) – In early January 2026, detectives with the Regional Narcotics Unit (RNU), Nevada State Police Investigation Division (Tri-NET), and the
Carson City Sheriff’s Office Street Enforcement Team (SET) received credible
information indicating that a male suspect would be trafficking a large quantity of illegal narcotics into the region.
An investigation was initiated, which culminated in the suspect being detained in the
area of South Virginia Street and Mt. Rose Street in Reno.
The suspect was found to be in the possession of approximately 20 pounds of
methamphetamine, 1.25 pounds of marijuana, and $8,074 in U.S. currency.
The methamphetamine seized has an estimated street value of approximately $223,252.
The suspect, Smiley Martin (52 yo), a resident of Reno, was arrested and booked intothe Washoe County Jail on the following charges:• Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale
• Trafficking of a Controlled Substance
• Transportation of a Controlled Substance
