(Carson City, NV) — Nearly 45-thousand Nevada residents will lose food assistance on March 1st. The Nevada Independent reports the SNAP benefits will end for some under the One Beautiful Bill passed last summer by Congress. The new provisions cut off food for people who are classified as able bodied adults without children. That category now includes people with children older than 14. There are no longer exemptions for veterans or homeless people. People in those categories must work at least 20 hours a week to get benefits. The federal government is also requiring Nevada to pay for about 19-million dollars in administrative costs.
