(Reno, NV) – Washoe County School District Superintendent Joe Ernst is calling it a career. Ernst yesterday announced his retirement, effective July 7. In a statement, he said “Serving the students, families, and employees of WCSD has truly been the honor of a lifetime. What I will always be most proud of is the people. The dedication of our teachers, principals, support staff, bus drivers, leadership team, and all WCSD employees is extraordinary.” The District says Ernst’s decision came after reflection and a desire to spend more time with his family. The Board of Trustees will discuss the next steps for naming another superintendent at a future meeting.
