Nevada Senator Dean Heller is asking key members of the Senate Appropriations Committee to abandon any efforts to revive Yucca Mountain, and instead focus on programs that would provide sustainable long-term strategies to address the country’s nuclear waste problem. Gov. Brian Sandoval has also directed Attorney General Adam Laxalt to intervene on behalf of Nevada against a Texas Lawsuit that seeks to force the feds to short circuit the approval process for the nuclear waste dump plan, and eliminate “Consent based” siting of controversial projects.
