Hiker Dies After Falling Off of a Cliff in the Sierra Nevada

A hiker from Truckee has died after falling about 100 feet off of a cliff in Granite Chief in the Sierra Nevada near Lake Tahoe. Two other hikers have been rescued. Deputies from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office say three hikers were stranded in the area late Wednesday. The Placer County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and the Tahoe Nordic team responded to the call.
