WCSO detain California burglar after high-speed chase

The man accused of robbing a bank in Susanville and leading authorities on a chase through Reno on Friday has been identified as Noah David Bodwell, 39, of Sacramento.

Bodwell was captured after a pit maneuver in his white Ford truck by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office on Interstate 580 just south of the Mount Rose highway. The incident closed the southbound I-580 lanes from just after 7 p.m. until about 10 p.m.

The Susanville Police Department reported a robbery at the U.S. Bank in the 900 block of Main Street about 5:55 p.m. Friday. That’s when Bodwell stole cash from the teller and fled before police arrived.

As the vehicle left Susanville, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol took over the chase. It continued down U.S. 395 until it reached Nevada, where the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office took over.
