Tahoe Donner Board of Directors Enact Fire Ban

Tahoe Donner’s board of directors have enacted a fire ban in the area due to high fire danger. That means that as of late last week, it’s illegal to burn wood outside, and it’s against the law to use your charcoal grill. If you’re caught, you could face a fine starting at $2000 dollars up to $5000. Gas grills are still allowed, but you must have at least 15 feet of vertical and horizontal clearance around your device before you cook. Gas powered tools, like chain saws and weed wackers, should never be used in the heat of the day, or on red flag days, because they can cause a spark. The grills at the Marina are closed until further notice, but some gas ones will be available at that location. The ban is temporary.
