The Search is on For The Target Shooters Responsible For Starting The Range 2 Fire

Nevada’s fire marshal is asking for the public’s help in the search for target shooters believed to have sparked an Elko County fire that destroyed nearly 15 miles of wilderness in the Ruby Mountains. Anyone with information that might help the investigation is asked to call the fire marshal’s office at 684-7500. The fire started near Spring Creek, Nevada, September 30th on private land behind the Spring Creek Shooting range southeast of Elko, and moved onto the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. It is about 20 miles southeast of Elko. Some structures have been lost. The Range 2 Fire is estimated to be 98 percent contained.
