Two Men Convicted After Home Invasion

Two people have been found guilty of a home invasion robbery involving a stolen firearm. A Washoe District Court jury found 21-year-old Kayshawn Smith-Harper and 22-year-old Raymond Banks guilty of multiple charges including Burglary, Grand Larceny, and Home Invasion While in Possession of a Firearm. Banks was also convicted on charges of Assault with Use of a Deadly Weapon. Sentencing is set for January; Banks faces up to 90 years in prison and Smith-Harper faces up to 80 years. The men were arrested after Sparks Police responded to a call from a resident who reported he had arrived home and found someone was inside, burglarizing the home. The homeowner told police he was confronted by four black males who were loading his gun safe into their car, leading to one of the men pointing a gun at him. He said the burglars left the safe and drove off, hitting his car in the process. The two other burglars were never found.
