Man Charged With Murdering His Wife Will Not Stand Trial

Bret Black, who was charged with murdering his wife Judy in 2014 in the Virginia Highlands, will not stand trial after being found incompetent because of “Onset dementia.” Black was scheduled to face those charges in court next month, but they’re now being dismissed. Storey County sheriff Gerald Antinoro called it an accident for a year before he reversed his decision, and Black was arrested. Black was originally held for beating his wife to death after her autopsy revealed that she died from blunt force trauma. The original explanation for Judy Blacks death was that she fell down the stairs in her home.
