Second Fire in a Week Started by Homeowner Illegally Burning Weeds

The Reno Fire Department is reminding people not to burn weeds within city limits after another fire is started by a homeowner burning weeds. Firefighters responded to a home in southwest Reno on the 2700 block of West Lakeridge Shores just before 5 pm yesterday. The home was briefly threatened by the fire although fire crews quickly knocked it down, less than an acre was burned. Last Saturday, a brush fire in the area of Webster and Sharon way burned a quarter acre on a hillside. That fire was also caused by a homeowner burning weeds.
