West Nile Problem an “Outbreak” in Southern NV

Human case of West Nile Virus in Clark County are setting a record. There are now 28 human cases of the disease, spread by the bites of infected mosquitoes. Mosquitoes infected with west Nile and the St Louis Encephalitis have been found throughout southern Nevada, in 15 zip codes. 19% of the mosquitoes tested in southern Nevada have West Nile Virus, compared to “point one” percent last year. In Washoe County mosquitoes have tested positive in much smaller numbers, but there have been human cases this summer.
