More Cases of Whooping Cough Reported in The Washoe County School District

Three students at Damonte Ranch High and one student at McQueen High School were diagnosed with whooping cough. Early symptoms include a mild cough, runny nose, and low-grade fever. Over the course of one to two weeks, the cough many worsen and include vomiting or a “whooping” noise. With 19 teachers and 16 classified employees off work due to this situation, the District will be offering a free immunization clinic for all staff to receive Tdap immunizations from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, and Sunday at the Brown Center, 14101 Old Virginia Road.
