Former Substitute Teacher Sentenced For Having Sex With Student

An Ex-substitute teacher with the Washoe County School District has been sentenced to three months in jail and probation for having sex with a student at local motels. 41 year old Darrell Baldwin had been under investigation since last April, when a school counselor was told about the relationship. According to court documents, Baldwin met the student who he had had a sexual relationship with while working at Wooster High School. The relationship began during the student’s senior year. According to court documents, phone records for the girl showed 6,000 phone calls and text messages between the girl and Baldwin. In addition to jail time, Baldwin faces two to five years in prison if he violates his probation. He will also be on lifetime supervision, and must register as a sex offender.
