Nevada Sets New Record For Marijuana Tax Collections

Nevada has a new record for marijuana tax collections, $9.8 million in in October, according to the Nevada Department of Taxation. That’s the biggest total, since legal recreational sales began in July 2017, an increase of more than $1 million from September and nearly $1.6 million from the previous October. Nevada collects on a 15% wholesale cultivation and production tax, and a 10% excise tax on retail sales. Through the first third of the 2020 fiscal year, the state has collected $36.7 million in marijuana taxes.
