FOUND & ARRESTED! Last week’s Warrant Wednesday subject, Ashton Spohn, was arrested Thursday evening by the Reno Police Department and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility without bail. In addition to the original warrant, Spohn faces multiple charges related to possessing stolen vehicles, resisting arrest and obstructing. RPD collaborated with Washoe County Sheriffs to find Spohn, a burglary suspect who fled from deputies in Sun Valley last week

Grand Theft Auto Suspect Caught — Sparks Police say they have a man in custody they believe stole a vehicle from the Nugget Casino’s valet parking lot early Thursday morning. Police say 24-year-old Michael Anthony Gastelum was seen loitering in the area prior to the theft. Gastelum reached into the valet window at the casino, grabbed a set of car keys that belonged to a white 2014 Hyundai Tucson, and drove off in it!
Orange is the New White, Doc — A once-prominent Las Vegas doctor who earned the nickname “Dirty Doctor Desai,” already serving 18 years to life for causing the largest hepatitis C outbreak in Nevada history, was sentenced in Reno federal court to an additional 6 years in prison. He was also ordered to repay $2.2M to insurance companies and the government. Dipak Desai sobbed during sentencing by federal Judge Larry Hicks. The judge considered adding more prison time for what he called the “mind-boggling” scope of the doctors’ overcharging nearly 60,000 Nevada patients.
