ELDERLY COUPLE DEATHS WERE DELIBERATE — Douglas County Sheriff’s detectives say a suicide pact appears to have been involved in the deaths of an elderly couple in Douglas County. Deputies were called to the 1400 block of Edlesborough Circle September 1st. They found 82-year-old Phyllis Lewis dead in the living room and her husband, 86-year-old William Lewis, barricaded inside. He was hospitalized, and he later died of organ failure caused by a deliberate overdose of prescription drugs. The couple had been together more than 60 years, and Mrs. Lewis was in declining health.
