HISTORIC VIGINIA CITY SCHOOL NEEDS HELP TO KEEP OLD WEST ALIVE —  During its operation as a public school, the Historical Fourth Ward School in Virginia City provided advanced education opportunities for Comstock children from 1876 to 1936. Now as a museum, the building Is the only authentic, 4-story historic wooden school building left in the U.S. Inside, visitors learn real stories from the Old West, including mining in Comstock, the people who lived there, and the area’s present day influence. The school sponsors a number of exhibits, programs and events throughout the year, and they need your help. To raise funds to keep the museum open, they’ve created, “Parties of the Year,” a gateway to out-of-the-ordinary, unique experiences that range from trips to Mexico to historical train and food experiences. If you want to help keep this national award-winning site around for future generations to enjoy, go to fourthwardschool.org and check out “Parties of the Year,” for unique and engaging events that will keep stories of the Old West alive!
