Nevada students remain below the national average in reading and math – The National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as the Nation’s Report Card, says Nevada’s performance in reading was stagnant in the 4th grade and dropped slightly in the 8th grade, compared to two years ago. In math, scores dropped slightly for both grades. But nearly every state, posted scores at or below 2013 levels, when the NAEP was last conducted. Overall, about 30 percent of Nevada’s 4th and 8th graders perform at grade-level in reading and math. Although its scores have been trending upward since the 1990s, Nevada is still among the bottom 10 states.
