Reno federal judge Miranda Du has agreed to postpone a hearing on a suit by several Nevada counties to block implementation of new regulations intended to protect the greater sage grouse. Justice Department lawyers and Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt filed a motion asking for a delay for the hearing that had been scheduled Nov. 12, it will be heard Nov. 17th. Elko and Eureka counties filed suit the day after Interior Secretary Sally Jewell decided against declaring the bird endangered. Critics say the regulations could hurt miners and ranchers and block a $500 million wind energy project in Elko County.
