Unlocked cars are an easy target for burglars. Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives investigating a series of vehicle thefts and vehicle burglaries, say the suspect specifically targeted unlocked vehicles. 21 year old Ashton Spohn of Sparks was arrested in in July of this year, driving a stolen vehicle. He’s a suspect in half a dozen vehicle thefts and at least two dozen vehicle burglaries. The Sheriff’s Office’s “Take Control” message applies here, that is” C – Clean it Out: remove valuables from your vehicle. T – Take your keys with you. Never leave your car running. R – Report suspicious activity or crimes, and L – Lock your doors every time.
