The state treasurer is sticking to his plan to alter Nevada’s Education Savings Account law, to waive the 100 day rule for military families. State lawyers have questioned his authority to do so. A vote is expected December 21st on regulations governing the program, which gives parents state money for private schools or other qualified education expenses. Children are required to attend public school for 100 days before they’re eligible for the funding. But Treasurer Dan Schwartz, who will administer the program, has proposed exempting military families and kindergartners from the requirement.
