A phone scam is making its rounds across the area. It informs the victim their number was “randomly selected for a free, 1-night stay at any 5-star Marriott Hotels.” The target is then prompted to press 1 to accept or 2 to be placed on a no-call list.  In online blogs, people who have fallen for the scam say they were pressed for personal information including whether they had credit cards listed in their name. Their phone numbers were then used to place long distance calls and other calls furthering the scam.
