Washoe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 61 year old Kathleen Dean, and 41 year old Joleen Dean of Sun Valley, for child neglect and animal cruelty. The arrests followed a welfare check that revealed hazardous living conditions. Deputies initially responded to the property on Corina Circle to check on several animals on the property. They observed deplorable living conditions including animal waste throughout the house. Three children ages 11-14 were removed from the home by Child Protective Services. Animal control officers discovered 10 dogs, 19 cats, 19 birds, 2 ducks, 1 turkey, 6 chickens, and 25 sugar gliders, a squirrel like animal, inside the residence.
