Downtown Reno’s old post office has a new lease on life. The art deco building has been closed since 2012, but it reopened this week as an urban marketplace modeled after similar concepts in New York and San Francisco. “The Basement” includes 14 local businesses in the lower level of the historic building. The Reno post office is one of the best examples of Art Deco design in Nevada. Designed by Frederick DeLongchamps in 1932, Reno’s post office is one of the best examples of Art Deco design, specifically Zig-Zag Moderne, in Nevada.
