Despite a big response at the hearing from an angry public, Solar companies, and even “Green” celebrities like actor Mark Ruffalo, the Public Utilities Commission says “No.” They voted to keep new rate hikes in place for rooftop solar customers, as well as lower payments for people who generate energy back to the grid. The decision is being blamed for the loss of thousands of solar energy jobs in Nevada. The PUC and NV Energy was uncomfortable with regular ratepayers subsidizing solar users.
